The many facets of Bombay Sapphire

Overview

The Bombay Sapphire name originates from the gin’s popularity during the British Raj, and the ‘Star of Bombay’, a 182-carat ‘cabochon cut’ sapphire once worn by silent film actress and United Artists founder, Mary Pickford. This project for Bacardi challenged us to create a unique gifting pack to theatrically retail Bombay Sapphire at airport duty free. Something in and of itself a brand experience. Inspired by the Bombay's exotic heritage, the Sapphire's famous cut, and the brand's contemporary design culture, we created a unique multifaceted ‘sculpture’.

The ‘Many Facets of Bombay’ gift pack included a bottle of gin, two San Pellegrino mixers, and a cocktail book detailing the 10 botanical ingredients and range of exotic Bombay drinks to create. The faceted packaging - a mini feat of structural engineering, reflects light onto the bottle, delivering a theatrical effect. Stackable into a larger, light-reflecting sculpture, the Facets gifting pack attracted attention from all angles. It takes its place as another original Bombay Sapphire design piece.
